Just a few short weeks ago, when the coronavirus officially kicked off in the United States, rumors surfaced that African Americans were immune to the virus and could not get infected. Now, African Americans are not only infected, but they make up the majority of coronavirus-related deaths in our country. In a press conference on April 7, Dr. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, attributed the rising death toll to preexisting conditions like diabetes and hypertension which directly affects the Black community in the United States. Stacy Brown (pictured), NNPA senior correspondent, and his wife Shenay Brown recently tested positive for the coronavirus. Stacy has an underlying condition.
