On Dec. 2, the residents of the Booth-Boyd community honored the life of Racheal Michelle Wilson with the unveiling of the mural above. Wilson, a firefighter, died in a training exercise in 2007. The mural, designed by Justin Nethercutt, is a tribute to Wilson’s legacy and sacrifice. According to a statement submitted to the National Fallen Firefighters
Foundation by her mother, “Racheal was interested in becoming a firefighter or police woman at a very early age‚ and began nurturing herself by working in administration with many departments in the City of Baltimore and the Vulcan Blazers‚ Inc.” The mural is located on South Calverton Street in South Baltimore.
