Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson announced that Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is receiving $229,627,520 in Section 5307 Urbanized Area Formula funds from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) through the CARES Act.
“The funds that my colleagues and I fought for in the CARES Act are critical to ensuring that our first responders, and front-line workers, are able to safely commute to and from work,” said Congresswoman Johnson. “DART and its contracted partners must be able to provide services, without major interruptions, while at the same time providing a safe and secure workplace for their employees. I will continue to fight for the funds needed to see us through this and future pandemics.”
DART will use the grant funds to pay operating, administrative, preventive maintenance, and other expenses to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19.
