Three homicide investigations continue in Prince George’s County as suspects remain at large.
Suspect Escapes Arrest Without Clothes On
The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of Duron Hudson. Hudson, 18, is wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of 22-year-old George Hendrix. Hendrix was found with multiple gunshot wounds in Southeast, D.C. on June 22.
Hudson was on the verge of being apprehended when he escaped authorities without his clothes and remains at large. There were initial reports that he was seen in public following his daring afternoon escape.
Just after noon August 9, Prince George’s County police issued a shelter-in-place order for the area around the 1900 block of Belle Haven Drive in Hyattsville, where Hudson fled from a home in the area. Police said Hudson was possibly naked when he avoided the arrest.
County police were in the process of executing a warrant and they made contact with Hudson inside the home. However, Hudson was described as “noncompliant, forced himself out of a window, jumping out, and was able to break through law enforcement perimeter,” according to Acting Deputy Commander Brian Kim from the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.
“The fugitive investigation for Hudson is ongoing at the moment,” Kim said.
Hyattsville Homicide Investigation Continues
Prince George’s County Police are still investigating a Fatal Shooting in Hyattsville, which does not appear to be a random act of violence.
Dante Campbell, 38, was shot early in the morning hours of August 1. Hyattsville Police were called to the 4600 block of Burlington Road where they found Campbell outside of a home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later.
The victim is 38-year-old Dante Campbell of Hyattsville.
The police said that it does not appear to be a random shooting and detectives are working to establish a motive and identify any suspects.
PGPD Continues Investigating Fatal Shooting in Suitland
Homicide Unit detectives continue to investigate a fatal shooting in Suitland on August 5. The victim was Mshairi Alkebular Jr., 24, of Southeast, D.C.
Around 1:15 pm, patrol officers responded to the report of a fight in the 5600 block of Suitland Road. When the authorities arrived on the scene, they encountered a large group of people who were attending a funeral service at a church in a strip mall at that location. The funeral had been held for a victim of another homicide from the District. When the officers were attempting to break up the fight, they heard gunshots in the vicinity.
Officers responded one block away to the 5800 block of Suitland Road and discovered Alkebular next to a car suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers provided emergency lifesaving measures on scene and Alkebular was transported to a local hospital where he died. Three other people were hurt as a result of the incident, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Police spokesman Corporal Nicholas Clayton said two others were taken to area hospitals with gunshot wounds while another person was found in the woods near where the fight happened with an injured wrist.
Authorities say detectives are actively working to determine the sequence of events following the funeral and also don’t believe this was a random act.
