Delaware State senior forward/center Brittany Washington scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while freshman guards Tasia Bristow and Kianna Conner added 13 and 12 points, respectively, to lead the visiting team to a 59-47 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) victory over Morgan State on Feb. 19 at Hill Field House in Baltimore.

The victory ended a two-game losing skid for Delaware State (8-17, 4-9 MEAC)which has now won three of its last 11 contests. The win also ended a three-game losing slide to MSU, while extending Morgan State’s current losing streak to a season-high three games.

Morgan State (14-11, 8-4 MEAC) fell to a record of 37-28 all-time against Delaware State but got a team-high 13 points from junior forward Kyla Rollins, who came off the bench and connected on 6-of-9 shooting from the field and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and had a game-high three blocked shots. Sophomore guard Moneshia Davis added 11 points and senior guard Brittany Dodson added seven points and five rebounds before fouling out.

Morgan State, which has held onto first or second-place in the league standings for the entire season, remains in second despite its recent slippage, behind first-place Hampton. Florida A&M (13-12, 8-5 MEAC), which was a game behind Morgan State heading into the Feb. 19 games, was dealt a 67-58 loss at Howard (12-15, 8-5 MEAC) and remains in third-place tied with Howard.

MSU will return to action on Feb. 21, when they play host to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in another MEAC contest at Hill Field House at 6:30 p.m. UMES is coming off a 62-50 loss at Coppin State on Feb. 19.

Monday’s game, which will be the home finale for Morgan State, will also mark Breast Cancer Awareness Night, as well as Senior Night for four of the team’s players—Brittany Dodson, Brittany Noel, Theresa Davis and Erin Hawkins—who will all be playing in their final home contest.
