NBA All Star Kevin Durant returned to Seattle for a game in NBA player Jamal Crawford’s summer pro-am league Aug. 11 to score 63 points.
Durant only managed to make 26 of his 62 field goals, including shooting 8 of 32 from three-point range. Durant had the chance to give his team the lead at the end of regulation, but missed a baseline jump shot, sending the game into overtime.
In overtime, Durant’s team came up short, as they lost 147-141 to Crawford’s team. Crawford scored 46 points in the game, but was overshadowed by Durant’s performance
This wasn’t one of the best shooting performances for the NBA’s three-time scoring champ whose career field goal average is 47 percent.. Last season he shot a career high 51 percent from the field.
This was a homecoming game for Durant in front of a crowd of 3,000. He started his NBA career in 2007 with the Seattle Supersonics. Durant was awarded the Rookie of the Year award with the Supersonics for the 2007-2008 season. That season, Durant averaged 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
After the 2007-2008 season, the Supersonics franchise moved to Oklahoma to become the Oklahoma City Thunder, following a dispute between owner Clay Bennett and lawmakers in Seattle, Wash.
Durant signed autographs and took pictures with fans. After the game Durant went to Twitter and tweeted “I love and miss Seattle.”
