A Baltimore man was killed and a woman shot after police were called to mediate a domestic violence dispute in the 3400 block of Foster Avenue on the night of April 18.

Plainclothes officers arrived at the scene around 11:45 p.m. to find a husband and wife arguing at the location. After taking initial information, Baltimore City Police spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said the officers exited the home to complete their report when they heard gunfire erupt from inside the home and rushed back inside.

Guglielmi said the man engaged the officers in gunfire and was shot in the exchange. Both the man and woman were shot at the scene, but it was unclear whether the woman was shot by the male initially, or in crossfire between the police and the male.

The couple was rushed to Bayview Hospital where the man was later pronounced dead. Guglielmi said the female suffered non-life threatening injuries.

“It is believed the male pulled the trigger on the female,” said Guglielmi, stating the incident in still under investigation by the agency’s internal affairs.

The victim’s names have not been released pending notification of their next of kin.
