The May 31 funeral of Chuck Brown, known as the "Godfather of Go-go" brought out thousands of his fans. The lines started forming outside the Walter E. Washington Convention Center well before the doors were opened. The funeral service brought out celebrities like Donnie Simpson, who emceed the event. D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton each made comments. Droves of fans remembered Brown for giving D.C. a music genre all its own. Brown, 75, was buried at Trinity Memorial Park in Waldorf, Md. during a private service the following day.
