GOVERNOR MARTIN O’MALLEY TO DECLARE CAPITOL HEIGHTS MARYLAND’S ‘CAPITAL FOR A DAY’



ANNAPOLIS, MD (April 14, 2010) – Governor Martin O’Malley will be joined by Maryland’s Executive Cabinet, Capitol Heights Mayor Darryl Miller, Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson, Senators Ulysses Currie and Nathaniel Exum, other local officials and area residents to declare Capitol Heights Maryland’s “Capital for a Day” tomorrow.  The monthly program launched by Governor O’Malley in 2007 brings the State Capital to every corner of Maryland through a series of events across a diverse selection of Maryland cities, towns and communities.  Below is the full public schedule for Governor O’Malley’s visit.

 

9:00 a.m.   Governor O’Malley to discuss Jobs Creation and Recovery Tax Credit at a visit to Gray’s Graphics, a family owned printing company in Capitol Heights

   Location:  Gray’s Graphics, 8607 Central Avenue, Capitol Heights

 

10:30 a.m. Governor O’Malley to visit with area faith leaders for meet-and-greet

   Location:  Faith Temple No. 2 Baptist Church, 211 Maryland Park Dr., Capitol Heights

  

11:30 a.m. Governor O’Malley to visit future site of Capitol Heights Town Hall and tour the town’s Green Demonstration House

   Location:  Begins tour at 119 Capitol Heights Blvd, Capitol Heights

 

12:00 p.m. Governor O’Malley to hold official Cabinet Meeting

   Location:  Capitol Heights Fire Station, 6061 Central Ave, Capitol Heights

 

In addition to Governor O’Malley’s official schedule, members of the Executive Cabinet will be meeting throughout the region with their respective local counterparts:

 

Office of the Secretary of State:

  • Secretary John McDonough will meet in nearby Forestville with officials from the local building trades union and SEIU 1199.

 

Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs:

  • Secretary Ed Chow will join the Governor at the meet-and-greet for faith leaders, and later will attend the Cabinet Meeting.

 

Department of Juvenile Services:

  • Secretary Donald DeVore will attend a Public Safety roundtable with other state public safety officials and local law enforcement from Capitol Heights and Prince George’s County.

Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services:

  • Secretary Donald DeVore will attend a Public Safety roundtable with other state public safety officials and local law enforcement from Capitol Heights and Prince George’s County.
