Comptroller Franchot to Release Direct Shipment of Wine Study



Comprehensive report to be delivered to General Assembly

WHAT: Comptroller Peter Franchot will brief the media on his agency’s report detailing the experiences and best practices of states who have implemented direct shipment of wine laws. The Comptroller’s Office was charged with compiling this report in Senate Bill 858, which passed the General Assembly this past spring. The report is a comprehensive look at the history of alcohol sales in the United States and Maryland and a detailed examination of how the 37 states and Washington, D.C. drafted and executed direct ship laws.
