Comptroller Highlights Better with Less Tour in Video Series

-Videos will Feature Area Business Leaders, Questions for Comptroller-

Annapolis, Md. (August 10, 2011) – Keeping with his agency’s tradition of using innovative methods to reach taxpayers, Comptroller Peter Franchot today unveiled the first of a series of videos on the agency’s YouTube channel highlighting his travels across Maryland as part of his Better With Less tour.

The Comptroller visited 24 private-sector businesses this Spring and Summer to learn lessons on efficiencies that may be useful for state government. The tour, part of his Better with Less award program, highlighted businesses from all sectors of the economy including companies providing services in IT, manufacturing, agriculture, hospitality, health care and more.

“I’m proud to spotlight Maryland’s best and brightest companies and corporate citizens through this video series. Their success helps bolster Maryland’s image as an innovative and forward thinking state. State government can learn lessons from these progressive business owners,” said Comptroller Franchot.

The award, given to one business in each county and Baltimore City, recognizes organizations which achieved economic success while using less resources, used an innovative means to efficiently operate, identified a niche market in the current economic climate or provided new economic opportunities for local communities. Agency officials received more than 100 nominations.

In addition to capturing the Comptroller’s visit to each of the winning businesses, the videos will also show everyday citizens asking the Comptroller questions and his responses.
