ANNAPOLIS, MD (May 18, 2012) –TOMORROW, Saturday, May 19th, Governor O’Malley will attend the 137th running of the Preakness Stakes.
The horse industry is a vital part of Maryland’s heritage and contributes greatly to the State’s economy, supporting an estimated 28,000 jobs and generating an annual economic impact of over $1.5 billion. Since taking office, the O’Malley-Brown Administration has worked to promote the importance of the industry by protecting the racing season, preserving the thousands of jobs it supports, and securing valuable open space.
The Governor will tour the stables, appear live on WBAL-TV and participate in the trophy presentation. Please see schedule below.
