BGE Supports #GivingTuesday

BGE and Its Employees Support Give Corps’ #GivingTuesday Initiative in an

Effort to Make Baltimore the Largest Giving City in the Nation

BGE matches each and every monetary gift, dollar-for-dollar, donated by employees as part of #GivingTuesday, doubling the contributions made

throughout the one-day campaign

BALTIMOREDec. 3, 2013 – In support of #GivingTuesday, the official opening of the giving season, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) and its employees have teamed up with GiveCorps in an effort to make Baltimore the most generous city in America. #GivingTuesday is a nation-wide effort by GiveCorps to encourage charitable giving and volunteer efforts, in the spirit of the holiday season. BGE will match each and every monetary gift, dollar-for-dollar, that its employees make to various nonprofit organizations as part of #GivingTuesday. In addition, BGE employees supported #GivingTuesday by lending their skills to GiveCorps at volunteer events throughout Baltimore City today.

Since its founding nearly 200 years ago, BGE has played an integral role in working with Maryland communities to address economic development, public safety, civic issues and other initiatives that help enhance our neighborhoods. Through the use of shareholder dollars, BGE supports programs that deliver measurable and sustainable impact in areas of education, economic development, environment and arts and culture.

BGE’s corporate citizenship aligns with that of its parent company, Exelon Corporation. As part of Exelon’s merger in March 2012, Exelon and its subsidiaries have committed to maintain charitable giving of an average of $7 million per year in Maryland, including BGE’s service area, for the next 10 years.

Through BGE’s employee volunteer network, ‘Energy for the Community,’ BGE employees lend their time and passion to corporate citizenship activities.

To date, BGE has contributed nearly 3 million to more than 200 nonprofit organizations throughout our service area, and our employees have donated more than 18,000 volunteer hours to various organizations.
