The Phoenix Awards Dinner paid tribute to the legacy and achievement of extraordinary individuals that have positively impacted the African American experience. Honorees were: Rep. Corrine Brown, Harvey Gantt, the first African American mayor of Charlotte, N.C., George Lucas, acclaimed film producer/director and Eric H. Holder, attorney general of the United States. First Lady Michelle Obama was the keynote speaker.
