Arriving in colorful hats on a sunny autumn afternoon on Sept. 28, nearly 97 stunning, sophisticated women of color turned out for the “Afternoon of Tea and Hats” annual membership drive held by the Montgomery County, Maryland Section of the National Council of Negro Women in Rockville.

Served on China tea sets were dainty finger foods, fruit, chocolate duets, and variety teas centered on white tablecloths with lavender and yellow flowers in white vases. Performance by Josh Sommerville created an ambience for socializing sharing of stories, and a room filled with joy and laughter.

The Legacy continues as eight new members joined the Maryland Section sharing the vision and philosophy of Mary McLeod Bethune - living and serving.
