Franchot to Speak at Black Caucus Prayer Breakfast, Tour Coppin University and Two Baltimore Centers
-Comptroller to Talk About Financial Literacy, Visit New Science and Tech Center-
WHO: Comptroller Peter Franchot
WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will speak to members of the Maryland Legislative Black Caucus at a prayer breakfast Thursday morning in Baltimore. The Comptroller will focus on his vision for financial literacy to help families and communities.
He then will travel to Coppin State University where he will meet with Coppin State University President Dr. Maria Thompson and tour Coppin’s new Science and Technology Center building.
In his role as a member of the Board of Public Works, the Comptroller will visit the McKim Community Center and McKim Park. The McKim Center has served Baltimore for 186 years, first as a Free School, then as a home for youth, later as an outreach center and now as an educational and recreational center. In 2013, Mr. Franchot voted to approve $185,000 in state Program Open Space funding. He will see the park’s enhancements and improvements.
In the afternoon, the Comptroller will tour the construction site of the Clarence Channing Jackson Jr. Recreation Center and be briefed on the planned improvements and renovations.
The C.C. Jackson Center project includes a reception area and offices, a full-size gym, improved swimming facilities, fitness room, dance and aerobics room and an elevator.
