Franchot to Hold Second Town Hall Meeting on Air Conditioning in Baltimore County Public Schools

Concerned Citizens Will Have Opportunity to Speak Directly to Annapolis Decision Makers

WHAT:           Comptroller Peter Franchot will host a second Cool Classrooms Town Hall meeting in Dundalk at 6 p.m. today. The meeting will give concerned citizens the opportunity to speak directly to Annapolis decision makers about the lack of air conditioning in dozens of Baltimore County Public Schools, and how the situation is threatening the health and safety of students, teachers and staff.

Comptroller Franchot is a member of the three-person Board of Public Works which gives final approval for the State’s public school construction budget. Comptroller Franchot and Governor Hogan have expressed concern about the unsafe and unhealthy conditions in Baltimore County Public Schools and have called for a timely solution. Comptroller Franchot held the first Cool Classrooms Town Hall meeting on October 6 in Arbutus, which was attended by five senior officials from Governor Hogan’s Administration, state Sen. Jim Brochin and state Sen. Johnny Ray Salling as well as Baltimore County Public School students, teachers and parents.
