Van Hollen Statement on December Jobs Report
Washington, DC – Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement on the Department of Labor’s December Jobs Report announcing that the U.S. economy added 292,000 jobs in December:

“Strong job growth in December capped off a year of solid gains, but far too many Americans still feel like they’re running in place or falling behind. In 2016, our top priority should be creating an economy that rewards those who are working hard to get ahead, not just those already at the top.

“It’s troubling that the top priority for Speaker Ryan and this Republican Congress isn’t boosting job growth or helping hardworking Americans get ahead, but taking health coverage and access to care away from millions of women and families. It’s time for the Tea Party to finally put the interests of hardworking Americans ahead of special interests and their extreme ideological agenda.”
